About Us

Welcome to the Association of Catholic Mental Health Ministers (CMHM), a Catholic Lay Ministry dedicated to empowering clergy, church leaders, or lay people with education and training to establish mental health ministries. Our mission is to provide unwavering support and assistance to individuals struggling with Mental Illness, as well as their families and caregivers, while actively working to eliminate the stigma and discrimination they often face.

We wholeheartedly believe that every person, regardless of their mental health, is a unique individual with invaluable insights into suffering, humility, compassion, friendship, and love.

How do we Make a Difference?

Enrich Parish Communities: We understand that mental illness does not define individuals; rather, it can enrich their perspective. We aim to integrate mental health ministry into every Catholic parish and community worldwide, striving to create a more inclusive and compassionate society.

Accompany Individuals: We offer spiritual support to those with mental illness, empowering them to lead holier lives and advocating for their equal participation in the Church.

Empowering Families: To the families and loved ones of those with mental illness, we extend spiritual support and comfort. We are dedicated to helping them find prayer and educational resources, and support services as they accompany their loved ones in this challenge.

Supporting Clergy and Ministers: We equip clergy and ministers with the knowledge, tools, and insights they need to minister to individuals with mental illness, free from fear or prejudice.

A Grand Vision: In the broader context of the Church, we educate and raise awareness about the experiences of individuals with mental illness. We strive to foster a strong communion with the Pope and local bishops and actively contribute to the Church's apostolic goals, particularly ministering to those with mental illness.

At CMHM, we celebrate diversity, promote understanding, and envision a world where mental health ministry is a cornerstone of every Catholic parish and community and where the love of Christ shines on all, regardless of their mental health journey. Join us in making a difference today.
